What it is
Black holes are popping up all over the galaxy, and the only cure is more black holes. In Black Hole Havoc you aim a cannon at the bottom of the screen and pump up a black hole of your own to exactly the right size before firing it at an incoming one. The store page calls it "the first Cinematic Black Hole Shooter". Get the size right and both vanish. Get it wrong and you take damage, and a big mismatch hurts a lot. Later levels add obstacles such as space tourists, collapsing ceilings and ice blocks that bounce shots back at you.
There are 80 levels in story mode, with hand-drawn animated cutscenes between areas, plus an arcade mode with online high scores. You can size your shots with the crank or play entirely with buttons, and the early levels come with aim assist, which you can switch back on in the settings. The team is Cosmic Bros: Antony Saillard (lead artist), Drew Loebach (programming), and Karim Chair (animation and music, with Ronin_XX).
Black Hole Havoc closed Playdate Season Two on 3 July 2025 (Week 6), alongside Taria & Como, and has since been sold on its own in the Catalog. The content note mentions "some mild cartoon violence".
