Blippo+ isn't really a game. Its store page calls it "an 11-week, live-action, over-the-top television experience". The premise is that the first Playdates picked up a strange broadcast from Planet Blip, and Panic has "decoded" it. You turn the device into a TV and channel-surf soaps, sitcoms, news, weather and talk shows, all filmed live-action and squeezed into 1-bit video. There's also Femtofax, a message board full of affirmations, neighbourhood drama and amateur astronomers. It uses every button, the crank and the accelerometer, but "requires no skill or precision". Closed captions are included.
It was made by the band YACHT (Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans, who wrote it), director JJ Stratford's Telefantasy Studios, and Panic programmer Dustin Mierau. Panic teased Blippo+ as a Steam release in December 2024, then surprise-released this Playdate version alongside Season Two's first games on 29 May 2025. New programmes arrived every Thursday at 10am PT for 11 weeks, followed by reruns.
It's now sold on its own in the Catalog. It's in the Catalog's "Game of the Year" collection. At the 2025 Playdate Community Awards it won Best Narrative Game, Best Sound Design and Best App or Knickknack. Panic compares the content to "an old episode of The Twilight Zone".
