Bobble Bay

What it is

Bobble Bay is a cozy, offline fishing game for Playdate: "Flick to cast. Crank to reel." You find a quiet spot by the water, watch your bobber, wait for the bite, then turn the crank to bring the catch home. Cranking fast isn't enough: you work your lure to tempt a bite, ease off when a fish runs, and keep just enough tension so it doesn't slip away, and different fish have different tricks.

You fish your way across the bay, starting at Calm Pond and moving on to River Bend, Misty Lake and further waters, and fill an Album with familiar fish, curious creatures and unexpected finds. Earnings buy rods, lures and upgrades, and some spots change after dark or "under a strange sky". Ojii's lessons teach casting, hooking and handling a fish on the line. The full game has 13 places to fish and 64 Album entries; a free demo covers 6 places and 33 entries, and its save carries over to the full game. The soundtrack is made with Playdate's own synths, and you can reel clockwise or counter-clockwise.
