Bug Sprayer is an arcade minigame collection first made for the Game Boy, inspired by collections like Nintendo's Game & Watch Gallery. The Playdate Edition runs that same game inside a Game Boy emulator built into the app, so it's a port rather than a rewrite. For Playdate, the developer added crank controls for turning and aiming, a hold-B shortcut for Start, and a background around the screen.
There are two endless minigames. In Pie, you move between three lanes to protect a freshly baked pie from bugs flying in through a window. In Spray, you rotate between 8 angles to spray creepy crawlers coming out from under benches and holes in the wall. Each has Easy, plus a Hard mode that unlocks at 1,000 points. It was published on itch.io on 2 Nov 2026 with no set price. The original Game Boy version is also on itch.io and playable in a browser.
Who made it
Team Piquant, per the itch.io page. The original was written for the Game Boy using GBDK-2020, with all code, design, art, sound effects and music by the developer.
