What it is

CrankLand is an idle game for the Playdate, and the crank is your weapon: "every notch strikes the monster in front of you, 8 notches per turn." The page describes "a clockwork world wound up by hand": its great spring has gone slack, the gears jam and creatures pour out of the cracks. You hire heroes, climb zone after zone, beat a boss every five zones, then "Rewind" the world to come back stronger. Reach zone 1000 and take down the last Warden to save CrankLand, "then keep climbing as far as you like."

The page lists 54 heroes and 245 upgrades, two prestige layers (Rewind and Revolution), and Wardens that guard every hundredth zone. At half HP a Warden's gears jam, and you turn the crank backwards to free it. Cranking always pays, since a notch carries a quarter of your DPS, while idle play earns its own bonus when you leave the crank alone. Progress continues offline for up to 24 hours. The soundtrack is chiptune played by the Playdate's own synth.

The page describes CrankLand as "an independent fan project with its own world, names, art and music", inspired by the idle game Clicker Heroes and not affiliated with its publisher Playsaurus. It was published on itch.io on 20 Oct 2026 and updated on 24 Oct 2026 (devlog: version 1.0.4 adds a title screen, sound options and a built-in manual). It's a 388 kB .pdx.zip, listed as name-your-own-price.
