Darn

What it is

Darn is "a sewing machine on your Playdate, and the crank is its hand wheel." The needle feeds forward on its own and you steer it with the crank. You can sew freely, or let the machine stitch a pattern and turn the crank while it sews to bend it into your own shape.

There's a shop side and a hobby side. In the shop, townsfolk bring jobs (tears, hems, patches, buttons), each with their own fussiness, and thread costs coins, so wobbly stitching isn't free. Garment jobs have you cut the piece out with scissors and then sew the seam, with the crank turning the cloth instead. You also pick the right presser foot, and the day ends with a ledger of jobs, pay and thread, with Bobbin the cat asleep through it all. In your hoops you get free sewing, a Quick Sew mode with six fill patterns, 24 templates from a heart to a mandala, a daily one-phrase prompt, and a gallery that can export PNGs.

The developer says it's their second Playdate game, made to help pay for their own Playdate. It was published on itch.io on 27 Oct 2026 as name-your-own-price.
