Deadball is, in the developer's words, "a small playdate baseball sim with gratuitously deep online features." The itch.io page lists real-time 3D matches, a shared "faux internet", extensive gambling mechanics, rigging games "with a crew of associates", multiplayer syndicates for 1 to 4 players, simulated players who come in and out of games, and trading cards you can open, buy and sell.
Offline there's a pennant race mode, arcade and sim controls or "a more hands off simulation mode", and training and trades. The page doesn't say how the crank is used, if at all.
The developer adds a note that the online features "may disappear if they get too expensive to run": they're "designed to be cheap", but the developer can't commit to running them forever. Server software is available in the project's GitHub repo (https://github.com/gopherbone/deadball). Deadball was published on itch.io on 22 Oct 2026 for $3.00 USD or more; the download is DEADBALL-1.0.4.pdx.zip (15 MB).
