Glider Retro brings "John Calhoun's Macintosh classic" to Playdate. You're a paper airplane trying to find your way out of the house: ride warm air from floor vents, squeeze past furniture and stay clear of candles. Clocks give points, batteries give a little extra lift, and you can pop balloons with rubber bands for extra lives.
The port has 63 rooms across two connected houses, uses the original Macintosh artwork and sounds, and adapts the rooms to the smaller screen with scrolling. You steer with the D-pad or, optionally, the crank. Progress saves, and there are local high scores and an online leaderboard.
The Catalog page calls it "an independent port of Glider 4.0 (1991)," based on John Calhoun's original source code, which was released under the MIT License. It came out in the Playdate Catalog on 27 Oct 2026 for $5. Per the AI disclosure, "AI tools assisted with Lua programming, debugging, and testing during development of the Playdate port."
Who made it
Ported by Konstantin Popov. The original Glider 4.0 (Macintosh, 1991) is by John Calhoun; jenissimo, creator of playdate-juice, helped with playtesting and polish.
