What it is
In HEXA you're the commander of Starship HEXA, taking over the universe by "unorthodox" means: matching hexagons. The board is a grid of interlocking hexagons, each made of six triangles that are white, grey or black. You rotate groups of six to form single-colour hexagons, and multiple matches and combos score more. There's a timed Arcade mode, a Daily Run, and dozens of challenges in Mission mode. The crank is optional, and the non-timed modes can be played at your own pace. It supports English, French and Japanese, and has online scoreboards.
It's by Rae (raewtf), and it's open source (source code on GitHub). It came to the Catalog in July 2024 for $8 (also on itch.io and as a PC version), with updates still coming in October 2026. It was a finalist for Best Continued Support at the 2025 Playdate Community Awards.
