What it is

Long Puppy is a game of fetch with a very long dog. Your owner throws the ball somewhere ridiculous: up a tree, inside a house, into a freshly dug grave. You steer the dachshund's head with the crank and push to stretch its body in that direction, and the back half catches up when the front finds footing. Eating food makes you longer, so you can cross bigger gaps. Take too long and a jealous ghost dog shows up to steal the ball. Your snout identifies creatures and sniffs out hidden food (and a journal of different pees). At the end of each level you crank out a poop, and its height tells you whether you found everything.

There are 13 levels. It's a solo project by indiana-jonas, whose next game, Bonkhope, is part of Season Three. Simberg notes that the timer and the ghost dog's bites can both be switched off for a relaxed run.

Long Puppy came out in Week 3 of Playdate Season Two (12 June 2025) alongside Otto's Galactic Groove!!, and now sells for $5 in the Catalog and on itch.io. It was a finalist for Outstanding Use of Crank at the 2025 Playdate Community Awards and appears in the Catalog's "The Cranky Award" collection.

On the card

Your owner has terrible aim. Steer a dachshund's head with the crank, eat to grow longer, and stretch to the ball before the ghost dog arrives.
