"Greetings, people of Earth." PXLSketch is a creative tool for drawing and animating pixel art on the Playdate. "The PXLBOTS have granted you access to their assembly factory", with 375 PXLs in different shapes and patterns to build with. The store suggests it for sprites, icons, art, typefaces, animations and patterns on the go. Daily "PXL Battle" challenges set a new creative prompt each day, and you're invited to share screenshots with #pxlsketch. You draw with the D-pad and A/B buttons, and the crank is optional, used for animation. The app is 265 KB.
It's by Jared Benson (PXLBOTS), released in the Catalog in February 2024 for $3 (and $2 on itch.io). Panic lists it among its "Monochrome Masterworks".
