The Verge (Andrew Webster, 9 Oct 2026). describes it as an arcade game where "do nothing and the water quickly heats up, but turn the crank and you can cool things down", a high-score chase that's "both cute and morbid". His verdict: "I can't stop playing."

Soggy Froggy is a game about giving frogs a bath. A frog sits in a cauldron, and you turn the crank to stir the pot and keep the water at the right temperature. If you let it run too cold or too hot, the bath is ruined. The Catalog page sums it up in three lines: "This froggy wants to get soggy. Stir the pot to temper that temperature. Be sure to hit those sweet spots, for froggy's sake!" It's a score-chaser with an online high-score table on its Catalog page. The official screenshots show a cold-to-hot gauge arcing over the cauldron.
It comes from team root, the small studio behind Root Bear, the Catalog game about pouring the perfect root beer. Team root's Alex Sussman handles code, art, sound and design. Andrea Cabral is lead artist, Sadie Saunders did UI and background art, and Chris Edwards did music and sound. The game is built with the Noble Engine. In Panic's launch announcement, Sussman says the team deliberately set out to make something "Anti-Root Bear" with a new kind of crank motion. Both games share what he calls a "1:1 reaction to the crank": Root Bear's beer tap there, Soggy Froggy's stirring of the cauldron here.
Soggy Froggy was one of the two games in Week 1 of Playdate Season Three, released on 8 October 2026 alongside Gloom Gate. It's currently part of the $39 Season Three bundle, and on 12 October 2026 the Catalog page didn't list a separate price. Panic's accessibility note is short: "It uses the crank. A lot. Heavy crank usage." Its content note reads "From tadpoles to frogs, this game is appropriate for everyone."
What others are saying

https://www.engadget.com/2254393/playdate-season-3-kicks-off-on-october-8/team root's Alex Sussman (Panic launch release, 8 Oct 2026). "If you're making a Playdate game that doesn't touch the crank, you should reconsider what you're doing."
