Tiny Turnip is a climbing adventure about a root vegetable that wants to reach the stars. The turnip makes a wish, sprouts arms and starts climbing. You swing each arm with the crank and press B to grab and switch hands, so every climb is a hand-over-hand puzzle. As you explore you pick up new ways to move, such as rolling, swimming and slingshotting between walls, which open up more of a big, interconnected map. The goal is a set of crystal vegetables hidden around the world, with stars and secrets for completionists. The store page sums up the controls: "It's a workout!"
It's a solo game by Luke Sanderson, with a soundtrack by Isabelle Chiming. It came out in Week 5 of Playdate Season Two (26 June 2025) alongside Chance's Lucky Escape, and now sells for $10 in the Catalog.
It's the most decorated Playdate game of 2025. At the 2025 Playdate Community Awards it won Game of the Year and Best Adventure Game, and it was a finalist for Outstanding Use of Crank and Best Soundtrack. It also appears in the Catalog's "Game of the Year" and "The Cranky Award" collections.
