What it is
"Awooooo the Ware-wolf is out and about tonight..." Ware-wolf Campfire Stories is a collaborative Halloween anthology. Five kids sit around a fire with their counsellor telling "spoooooky tales", and each story launches a separate small game that you can win or lose, "with consequences" for the campers. There are 14 stories, and the counsellor remembers which ones you've played, so you need to go through the night several times to see them all. Many games award candy, which acts as an overall high score. Everything is made in Pulp.
It was organised by Ledbetter Games (A Ghost in the Gallery). Fifteen dev teams made their games in about ten days in October 2025, and it's free on itch.io for Halloween 2025. It was made possible by Shaun Inman's new Pulp Game Switcher, originally built to bring Pine to the Catalog. The itch.io page says no generative AI was used. At the 2025 Playdate Community Awards it was a finalist for Outstanding Pulp Game of the Year, Outstanding Innovation in a Pulp Game and Outstanding Visual Achievement in a Pulp Game.
